Australia and India Virtual Reality Film Showcase

Australia and India Virtual Reality Film Showcase

The Australia and India Virtual Reality Film Showcase is a showcase of cutting-edge immersive entertainment featuring award-winning Australian VR films and a curated set of Indian films told through experimental media formats. The films cover different worlds and transport audiences into the life of a street artist, a magical autumn forest, the land of an Australian indigenous elder and the traditional communities of Mumbai.

The dedicated traveling exhibition showcases exciting VR content from Australia as an immersive experience for visitors and is curated by Crossover Labs (UK) and Future Fiction for the Australian Government’s Australia-India Fest 2018-19 program. The production brings the best of Australia's virtual reality creativity to India and brings together filmmakers, Lynette Wallworth, Sutu, Oscar Raby and photographers, Nareller Autio and Trent Parke.

The multi-layered experience of VR films by Indian film-makers and creators explore unique stories which are shaping India’s cultural narrative. The VR showcase experience is part of Future Fiction - a new platform for new media and immersive storytelling.

The Australian VR films have in the recent past months made it to viewers at Magnetic Fields Festival (Rajasthan), UnBox Festival (Bengaluru), Immersive Futures (Mumbai) and now Indian School of Design & Innovation - ISDI (Mumbai). The Indian Centre for Immersive Media (ICIM) is a pioneering initiative by ISDI and the first centre of excellence for immersive media in the country which aims to be a platform for creators and entrepreneurs, supporting them to position Indian content with a distinct identity
